properties

The Nordmann fir is also known as the Nordmann fir and the Caucasus fir. The botanical species name is Abies nordmanniana. It can grow to heights of up to 30 meters. The growth can be described as conical and upright. The conifer was named after the Finnish scientist Alexander Nordmann.

Pollination as well as needlework

Abies nordmanniana is monoecious. There is both cross-pollination and wind pollination. The needle-shaped leaves are triangular in shape and have a smooth leaf edge. It is an evergreen conifer.

Soil condition

Abies nordmanniana prefers clayey to stony soil variations with a significant nutrient content. A high humus content is also gratefully accepted. The hardy Nordmann fir also tolerates calcareous soils. With a sunny location you definitely make her a joy.

Provenance

The Nordmann fir originally comes from the Caucasus. The cones of the Nordmann fir are still harvested in Georgia today. Abies nordmanniana can now also be found in this country and is particularly popular at the end of the year. We can deliver the Nordmann fir in the provenance you require. The table below this text gives you an overview of the possible areas of origin. Would you like a different provenance? Please do not hesitate to contact us..

Uses

The wood of the Nordmann fir is used for the production of pulp and paper. However, its use as a Christmas tree is likely to be far more important. Abies nordmanniana is the most popular type of Christmas tree. Reason enough for Helmut Schröder Nurseries to offer this conifer as a young Christmas tree. We look forward to working with you to make the best time of the year even more beautiful.
